What we do
- The NSBA’s objectives are to serve and protect the interests of private users of leisure craft on the Broads.
- Annually produces the "NSBA Handbook for Sailing and Cruising the Broads", fondly known across the region as "The Green Book". Packed full of local information and expertise about boating on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads.
- It coordinates and publicises the Regattas and Open Meetings of its many affiliated clubs.
- Provides regular e-newsletters and an up-to-date website.
- Convenes discussions to resolve and balance disparate points of view. Lobbies to promote/serve the interests of Broads boaters, and is consulted on many issues by the government, the Broads Authority and the RYA.
- Promotes competitive sailing in its own events for juniors and experienced sailors.
- Individual membership gives access to discounted, exclusive boat insurance and other benefits from our loyal advertisers.
We need you
- Everyone is very welcome; you don’t even need to own a boat.
- We believe a more diverse and engaged membership is essential for addressing boating issues on the Broads, so we’re seeking to increase our membership. More members - better representation.
- We are looking for volunteers to check and update sections of The Green Book. However much time you can spare, your involvement would be greatly appreciated.
- You may want to join our management committee which not only deals with navigation-related matters, but also organises fundraising events and social activities for our members, and aims to increase our presence through social media.
- We’re a welcoming and friendly group, and we’d be delighted for you to join us.
